Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways have released an indicative Centralised Employment Notification (CEN No. 02/2026) for the recruitment of Technician Grade I Signal and various Technician Grade III posts. Applications will be accepted through online mode only, and a total of 6,565 Technician vacancies are expected to be filled across all RRBs for the 2026-27 recruitment cycle.

RRB Technician Vacancy 2026 – Post Details

As per the approved intent, 6,565 Technician vacancies are proposed for the RRB Technician 2026-27 recruitment, distributed as follows across all RRBs. 

• Technician Grade I Signal – 323 Posts
• Technician Grade III – 6,242 Posts
• Total Vacancies (All RRBs) – 6,565 Posts

Age Limit

• Technician Grade I Signal: 18 to 36 Years
• Technician Grade III: 18 to 33 Years
• Upper age relaxation for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/NCL/EWS/Ex-Servicemen/ PWBD) will be applicable as per Government of India rules and details will be given in the detailed CEN. 

Selection Process

RRB Technician recruitment involves multiple stages including a Computer Based Test and subsequent document and medical verification. There is no Computer Based Aptitude Test for these Technician posts.

• Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
• Stage 2: Document Verification
• Stage 3: Medical Examination

RRB Technician Exam Pattern 2026

• Mode of Exam: Computer Based Test (CBT)
• Total Questions: 100 Objective Type Questions
• Total Marks: 100 Marks
• Exam Duration: 90 Minutes
• Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark will be deducted for each wrong answer; no negative marks for unattempted questions. 

Salary Details

• Technician Grade I Signal: Pay Level 5 (7th CPC) – Initial Pay Rs. 29,200/-
• Technician Grade III: Pay Level 2 (7th CPC) – Initial Pay Rs. 19,900/-
• Additional allowances such as DA, HRA, TA and other benefits will be admissible as per Railway rules for the respective pay levels.
